The Wine in Moderation programme is the European wine sector's measurable commitment to implement an effective and specific contribution to the reduction of alcohol-related harm, founded on science based information, broad based education and sector self-regulation.
In response to the need for broader research on the social and cultural aspects of drinking in Europe, the Wine Information Council was developed in collaboration with sources from European authorities and international scientific bodies. It aims at two objectives: developing a centralized database portal on wine ensuring that sound science-based information is commonly made available to all stakeholders of the wine sector as well as to the public at large, and sharing «best practices» of European wine sector organisations promoting responsible drinking patterns.
